I have been on the quest for the perfect pillow for years. After trying out all different kinds of traditional pillows, those with either feathers or polyfil, I decided to give memory foam a try.
Memory foam pillows are usually more expensive than traditional pillows. Finding a decent memory foam pillow under $10 is rare and they are usually a lot higher.
Comfort Plus Cooling Gel Memory Foam Pillow by Dreamfinity review
It comes with a removable cover for cleaning, but the pillow itself is not machine washable. One side of the pillow is memory foam with a cooling gel pad on one side and polyfil on the other for a traditional pillow feel.
I liked the idea of two pillows in one, but after a few nights, I wasn’t really enjoying it. I was really looking for one or the other, so the combination didn’t really make me feel satisfied. I could tell the polyfil was going to flatten out with use, leaving me with really just the memory foam anyway.
The cooling gel side of the pillow was nice, when I had that side up. But on nights when the other side was up, again, the extra cost of the memory foam felt like a waste.
Bamboo Pillow - Shredded Memory Foam - Stay Cool Removable Cover with Zipper by Home Comfort review
This looks like a traditional pillow, but filled with shredded memory foam. When I first got it, it did take a few hours for the foam to “plump” up, but once I was ready for bed, a quick fluffing was all it needed. I like how both the cover and the pillow itself are both washable, but recommended that the cover is washed more often that the pillow.
I have not had it long enough to need to wash the pillow, but the cover washed and dried without any problems. Putting the cover back on was not an issue either.
I liked this pillow because it was like a more traditional pillow and was great for sitting up in bed and for sleeping. It can move to adapt to whatever sleeping position you are in. For the price this is an excellent memory foam pillow.
Cool Contour Memory Foam Pillow by Sleep Innovations review
This is a traditional memory foam pillow. It has a layer of cooling foam to keep you cool during the night and comes with a removable cover. Only the cover is washable.
There are two “humps” on this pillow. The lower one for those who are back sleeper and the other is for slide-sleepers. This helps keep your head and neck in a neutral position while sleeping, which can help reduce neck, shoulder, and back pain. It took a bit to get used to sleeping on this pillow because of the humps.
After a few nights, I slept like a log and didn’t notice them anymore.
|Pillow by Dreamfinity:||Third place. Regains its shape quickly when you lift your head off of it. Would rate 5/5 stars if it was cooler. So 4/5 stars.|
|Pillow by Home Comfort:||First place. The best one - 5/5 stars rated. Buy this pillow and you will thank yourself every nigh.|
|Pillow by Sleep Innovations:||Second place. Molds to my head without me having to fold and fluff it. Good one - can give it also 5/5 stars rating.|
I didn’t like the Comfort Plus Cooling Pillow but liked the Cool Contour Member Foam Pillow for it fitting around my neck and shoulder so well during the night. It was a comfortable pillow, but it did take a few nights to get used to it. I also really enjoyed the Shredded Foam Pillow because it felt like it was the best of both worlds for me. Both of these are still on my bed for “further testing”.
